Overview

ProSync is seeking a Linux System Administrator 2 to join our team. we rely on our SAs to configure and maintain information technology (IT) systems used to collect and process Data from locations around the world.  Most of this work is performed from our Fort Meade location, but there are some limited opportunities for travel.  Approximately 75% to 80% of the systems managed are using CentOS or RedHat LINUX, with the remainder using Microsoft Windows variants, other LINUX variants, or proprietary/firmware environments.  Common activities include: initial load of new servers, initial configuration on non-computing devices (NCDs), patching and securing existing servers or NCDs, testing new software or patches, and documenting security compliance. The right candidate should possess a strong background in testing and troubleshooting application errors.  Strong verbal and English skills.  Interact with customer personnel on technical matter, often requiring coordinated activities across organizational lines.  Provide technical guidance to lower level personnel.  Provide system integration and administration across multiple platforms and multiple applications running between them using an array of scripts that initialize and control various application functionality.

Responsibilities

 

  • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.

  • Manages IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.

  • Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.

  • Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.

  • Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

  • The Level 2 System Administrator shall be able to perform the indicated Level 0 & 1 tasks plus the following indicated tasks:

    • Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.

    • Provides in-depth experience in troubleshooting IT systems.

    • Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

    • Provides detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets.

  • System deployment, installation and maintenance.

  • Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.

  • Provides in-depth experience in troubleshooting IT systems.

  • Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

  • Provides detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets.

  • Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.

  • Optimizes system operations and resources utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning.

  • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems.

  • Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems.

  • Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.

  • Provides assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems.

Qualifications

 

  • Ten (10) years system administration experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal Government is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Five (5) years of additional system administration experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.

Skills and Domain Knowledge:

 

- TCP/IP, networks; computer configuration skills; remote manipulation of systems (FTP, mapping drives, share accounts); remote monitoring and administration

- Sun Solaris, HP-Unix, Linux, VMS, and Windows operating systems to include shell scripting and XML

- Cisco equipment and router operations

- Smart data tagging; virtual computing; thin client applications

- IAVA security patches; NISIRT

- RF:HF, VHF, UFH, VLF, SHF SIGINT Systems

- HF/VHF/UHF DF, Geo-Location, and collection systems VSAT communications including data encryption devices and WAN interfaces

- Linux system administration, UHF/VHF DF collection systems, shell scripting, XML

- Familiarity with USSID CR 1610

Clearance Requirement

  • TS/SCI with FSP (CI no older than 5 years)
  • CCAs will not be considered.
