  • Overview

    Windows, VMWare, TCP/IP networking. 


    Title of Position: System Administrator Level 2


    Description of Position:

    • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems 
    • Manage the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems 
    • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
    • Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
    • Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
    • Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems 
    • Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
    • Optimize system operations and resource utilization, and perform system capacity analysis and planning 
    • Provide support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process
    • Provide in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems 
    • Configure and manage UNIX and Windows (or other applicable) operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
    • Provide detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets 


    Clearance Requirement:

    • TS/SCI with Polygraph
    • No CCAs will be considered

    Education and Experience Required:

    • Ten (10) years experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
    • Requires current DoD Approved 8570 IAT Level II Baseline Certification (CWIP).
    • At least five (5) years experience deploying Microsoft Windows-based servers, including Active Directory and email OR at least two (2) years experience deploying Microsoft Windows-based servers, including Active Directory and email with Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification.
    • At least five (5) years experience deploying Linux-based and Solaris-based servers.
    • At least three (3) years experience PC hardware troubleshooting.
    • Shall have demonstrated experience in maintaining lab system infrastructure, including: desktop workstations, the lab computer network, server computers, backup systems, power and cooling systems, IT asset management systems, printers, scanner and other Peripherals.

    Job-Specific Experience and Skills:

    • Windows System Administration experience (system including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution)
    • End-user support (Customer support experience to include phone, email and in person contact as well as experience assisting end users with new desktop capabilities and/or software)
    • VMWare administrator responsible for upgrading and patching the VMWare systems to the latest version; Ability to configure and administer a vCenter 6.5 environment, vSphere 6.x ESXi servers
    • Daily configuration and maintenance, backups, strong understanding of TCP/IP networking including VLANs, creating and managing DHCP scopes, and managing DNS servers
    • Configure and maintain backup architecture, perform test restores
    • Perform all routine maintenance, upgrades and security patching and managed deployments for Microsoft Windows 2008/2012/2016 R2 servers
    • Veeam and/or Symantec Backup Exec experience.
    • Some Linux/Unix and basic configuration of Cisco IOS devices (switch port configuration, VLAN creation, etc.) experience preferred.
