    Responsibilities

    Title of Position: Principal Computer Scientist

      

    Description of Position:

    • This position requires a principle software engineer providing full system and software life-cycle support for incremental software functionality.
    • PERL support will be required for the existing system maintenance and strong JAVA experience is required for the new system being developed.
    • Primary work will be on middle tier development.
    • Candidate will be expected to be the Software lead for the JAVA portion of the software product.

    Qualifications

    • TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph
    • No CCAs will be considered for this position

     

    Education and Experience Required:

    • Minimum of twelve (12) years of software development experience (BS in Computer Science/Engineering can substitute for 2 years)
    • Within the last twelve (12) years, a minimum of nine (9) years’ experience with designing, coding, testing, and debugging software to run under either Microsoft Windows (XP or later) or UNIX (Solaris 8 or later, Redhat LINUX) Operating System.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of Java experience
    • Within the last twelve (12) years, a minimum of  seven (7) years experience in at least one (1) of the specializations listed below:

                  I. Programming/Scripting Languages: Individual shall have designed, coded, tested and debugged software written in C, C++, Java, PERL, TCL/TK, PYTHON, BOURNE shell, C shell, BASH, KORN shell, Groovy, PL/SQL, SQL, PHP.

                  II. Presentation (Client/Web): Individual shall have designed, coded, tested, and debugged GUIs using one or more of the following: Motif, UIM/X, Java Swing, JQuery, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSTL, Tiles, AJAX, Wicket, Dojo, Java Server Pages, XHTML, XSLT, Servlets.

                  III. Database Management: Individual shall have experience in object-oriented or relational database design, development, troubleshooting, and testing, and management system experience with SYBASE, ORACLE or MySQL. Experience shall include use of PL/SQL, Oracle Dataguard, Oracle 11g, SQL Server, Oracle Label Security, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and/or JDBC

                  IV. Web Technologies: Individual shall have experience designing, developing and integrating software that interacts via a network. The individual shall have experience with Web-based and Browser technologies, including JavaScript, JSP, Servlets, web servers (Tomcat), XML, AXIS, JAXWS, and HTML.

                  V. Software Test/Integration: Individual shall have experience planning, developing, documenting and executing test programs to verify system operability and compliance with project standards and requirements, writing and executing test procedures, documenting problem reports and defining test paths. In addition, experience is required in system analysis and data flow paths.

                  VI. Systems Interfacing: Individual shall have experience designing and developing SW that interfaces to other systems, to include networks.

                  VII. Data Formatting: Individual shall have experience in design and development of specialized applications software dealing with data in the NSA standard formats (e.g. CSDF, CERF, USSID 124, ASDF) or experience programming using the manipulation re-use libraries for those formats.

                  VIII. Middleware (Business Tier): Individual shall have experience with one or more of the following: Hibernate, Tomcat, Jboss, EJB3, WebLogic 8.1, Apache Log4J, Rsync, jBPM

                  IX. Frameworks: Individual shall have experience with the one or more of the following: Spring, Grails.

                  X. XML Technologies: Individual shall have experience with the one or more of the following: JAXB, JIBX
                  XI. Development Environment: Individual shall have experience with the one or more of the following: Eclipse, ANT

    • Experience with Java 1.8
    • Experience with Java testing framework and Mock Objects
    • Experience with Spring framework
    • Experience with Hibernate
    • Experience with SQL databases – including MariaDB
    • Experience with PERL
    • Experience with Software Development and Collaboration tools (preferably Jira, Confluence, and Bamboo – Atlassian Tool Suite).
    • Strong LINUX
    • Experience in Agile development
    • Must be able to lead the Java portion of the software product.
    • Self-Motivated, problem solver
    • Flexibility – tasks can change from day-to-day.
    • Will provide "on call" support approximately 1 week per month (carry pager)

    Desired Skills and Experience:

    • User Interface design and development experience
    • Experience identifying and/or processing Internet protocols

    • Understanding of JMS (Java Messaging Service)

    • JUnit testing framework
    • Maven
