Responsibilities

Title of Position: Systems Administrator Specialist- Intermediate

  

Description of Position:

  • Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of the organization’s information technology (IT) systems and applications.
  • Assists in the installation, maintenance, and general support of IT systems.
  • Identifies and resolves problems associated with operating systems.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems associated with server hardware/software and applications software.
  • Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems on both server, desktop, and mobile IT systems.
  • Provides assistance to users with questions or issues related to accessing and using IT systems.
  • Installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves software related problems.
  • Performs system backup and recovery procedures.
  • Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Performs systemcapacity analysis and planning, and optimizes system operation and resource utilization.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure that systems support the organization's business requirements and meet the needs of end users.
  • Defines system requirements based on user/client needs, cost, scalability, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms.
  • Must be familiar with a variety of systems administration concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
  • Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a project leader, supervisor, or manager.
  • Must be adept at problem solving, identifying risk, and communicating results and recommendations to department management.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

  • This level is intended to coincide with DoD 8570.01M IAT/IAM Level II. The Contractor must comply with the associated requirements.
  • Requires at least five (5) years of experience in area of specialization; a minimum of 60 semester hours of formal education from an accredited institution working towards an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a directly related curriculum and at least four (4) years of experience; or an Associate’s degree with two (2) years of experience required.
  • This labor category includes personnel who provide systems administration support in areas where these capabilities may be gained through extensive on-the-job experience, specialized formal Government training, or institutional training and certification. On-the-job experience must be in specific IT fields.
  • Examples of Government or industry training include but are not limited to United States Federal or DoD school training and certification on a specific system, network, or technology.
  • Must possess experience with DoD’s defense in depth architecture; the capabilities associated with the DoD architecture; and Information Assurance (IA) / Computer Network Defense (CND) Policies and Procedures.
  • This labor category requires specific training for the Information Assurance Technical (IAT), Information Assurance Management (IAM), CND Analyst, CND Auditor, and IA Systems Architects and Engineers (IASAEs).

Clearance Requirement:

  • U.S. Citizenship and Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI eligibility required.
